Each of these large serving bowls are hand thrown one by one by skilled craftsmen. Using local clay and traditional techniques, Iga ware (伊賀焼, Iga-yaki) is a style of Japanese pottery traditionally produced in Iga city of Mie prefecture, Japan. Iga ware carries a rich tradition that can be traced back to the Nara Period (710-794), featuring wild beauty actualized by the unique quality of the baked clay.
Pottery that is considered earthenware is porous and considerably low in density compared to porcelain, meaning it will absorb liquids. Therefore, before using Iga ware for the first time, please follow the care instruction in order to protect the ceramic from food stain or odor.
Paired perfectly with other Iga tableware. Adding a touch of warmth, this Iga Serving Bowl is an ideal choice for serving your favourite dish to share with your family, or simply for storing fresh vegetables and fruits on your dining table.
Due to the handcrafted quality of these products, there will be individual differences in shade, gloss and size of glaze. Its beauty is one of a kind.
