ReIRABO is a modern reinterpretation of irabo, an ancient glazing technique often seen in traditional Japanese pottery such as matcha bowls and handcrafted works by skilled artisans. The beauty of irabo lies in its uneven, expressive texture—each variation is celebrated, giving every piece a unique character.
While this type of glaze is typically difficult to stabilize for everyday use, Yumiko Iihoshi has developed her own original irabo glaze through repeated testing. The result is a collection that balances the charm of handmade ceramics with the practicality of modern production. Each form is thoughtfully designed for ease of use, making it suitable for serving Japanese cuisine as well as a variety of everyday dishes.
With its generous depth, this Redonburi bowl is ideal for udon or soba noodle soups, ramen, pasta, and other hearty meals. Pair it with smaller plates from the same ReIRABO series to create a beautifully coordinated table setting.
