A versatile size for serving side dishes and desserts such as nuts, fruit, and ice cream. It also works beautifully as a small serving plate for pickles, tofu, dipping sauces, and other small dishes.
The gently raised rim provides a little extra depth, making it easy to serve foods with sauces, dressings, or other liquids, while the thoughtfully shaped edge makes it easy to scoop up the last bite with a spoon. Easy to pair with Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, it is a lovely piece for everyday use.
ReIRABO is a reinterpretation of “irabo” glaze, an ancient glazing method often still found in traditional pottery such as Japanese matcha bowls or handworks by skilled potters. The uneven texture of glaze is the beauty of irabo, and it is celebrated as a unique character making every piece one of a kind. This technique is usually challenging to stabilize and handle for use in microwave ovens and dishwashers, however, after repeated testing, Yumiko Iihoshi has adapted her own original irabo glaze and developed a selection of modern tableware that pushes the boundaries between a handmade product and machine-produced. Every shape and size are well designed and considered for easy-to-use and fun to serve Japanese foods and many other dishes for your own dining set-ups.
The ReIRABO collection offers cups, plates and bowls in the same colour options. Ideally enjoyed using your own mix and match style.
Because each piece is finished by hand, there may be slight variations and unevenness in colour. These are not considered defects, but added value. Please enjoy discovering the individual expressions found on each item.
