ReIRABO is a reinterpretation of “irabo” glaze, an ancient glazing method often still found in traditional pottery such as Japanese matcha bowls or handworks by skilled potters. The uneven texture of glaze is the beauty of irabo, and it is celebrated as a unique character making every piece one of a kind. This technique is usually challenging to stabilize and handle for use in microwave ovens and dishwashers, however, after repeated testing, Yumiko Iihoshi has adapted her own original irabo glaze and developed a selection of modern tableware that pushes the boundaries between a handmade product and machine-produced. Every shape and size are well designed and considered for easy-to-use and fun to serve Japanese foods and many other dishes for your own dining set-ups.
Available in three sizes;
– cup S –
A small cup that is ideal for enjoying espresso and Chinese tea. In addition to drinks, it is also recommended to use for nuts and ice cream after meals.
– cup M –
A middle size ideal for everyday use. It’s just the right size to serve coffee or tea. It features a unique texture of Irabo glaze that goes well with Japanese tea.
– cup L –
When you want to drink plenty of tea or coffee, this cup is the perfect size for cafe au lait or even soup. The moderately thin edge is designed so that you can taste tea or coffee deliciously.
The ReIRABO collection offers cups, plates and bowls in the same colour options. Ideally enjoyed using your own mix and match style.
Because each piece is finished by hand, there may be slight variations and unevenness in colour. These are not considered defects, but added value. Please enjoy discovering the individual expressions found on each item.
Note: To prevent damage and reduce waste, online orders are not shipped in original Yumiko Iihoshi boxes unless requested.
