The My Mug series by Yumiko Iihoshi is named with a touch of playfulness, imagining the personalities and everyday rituals of the people who might use each piece.
"Jansen is a German-Dutch woodworker who loves milk tea. During his three daily breaks, he brews English Breakfast tea in this mug and fills it to the brim with plenty of warm milk. His tea is always accompanied by homemade cookies baked by his wife".
With its softly rounded form, rich brown colour, and matte glaze, the Jansen mug has a warm, understated presence.
Created in collaboration with kilns across Japan, the My Mug series celebrates the unique materials and techniques of each region. Each mug has its own name and imagined story, reflecting the idea that a mug is a deeply personal object—one that becomes a familiar companion through everyday moments.
Each piece is finished by hand, so variations in colour, texture, size, and capacity are natural and contribute to its individual character.
