Handcrafted individually by Mokkougei Sasahara in Hokkaido, Japan, these Koma spinning-tops are made from various species of lumber in the area. The subtle differences in weight and design, each has a unique spinning style and makes for an interesting tabletop game.
Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, is famous for producing wooden furniture from locally grown trees. The harsh climate of the area produces beautiful wood grain patterns and strong material. Because the wood supply is limited, every piece must be used carefully and even the small scraps must serve a purpose. Each top is made from different types of high quality Hokkaido wood that might otherwise have been thrown away and wasted, and that is why every piece has its own unique grain pattern and colour.
Each order includes a wood top(s) chosen at random. If you would like to make any specific requests (colour or shape), please leave a note at check out or email (info@itsumo.ca) us. We’ll do our best to match from our available stock, but slight colour or shape differences are still to be expected.
