This is an authentic vintage Japanese Sakiori Boro textile (rug). Heavily worn and beautifully worn in. Great rugged vintage condition with lot of ageing and full of patina, including historical imperfection and original mending throughout.
"Boro" is a class of old Japanese textiles that have been mended, repaired or patched together with tradition of recycling and reworking pre-existing textiles.
"Sakiori" is a term that refers a woven fabric that is produced from worn out cloth and garments torn thinly and then woven tightly. Sakiori is generally woven with warps of cotton and wefts of thin worn out cloth. These fabrics are durable and warm, turning softer in texture as with use.
