With a fairly deep capacity, the Donburi Bowl is perfect for serving your main course of udon / soba noodle soup, ramen, pasta and other hearty entrees. Pair it with a small or medium sized Oval Plate from the RelRABO series as a side dish, and create a beautiful dining table landscape.

ReIRABO is a reinterpretation of the ancient glaze technique called “Irabo“, known for its hazy textures. Irabo is often found in traditional pottery used for Japanese tea ceremony.

The variable texture of glaze is the beauty of Irabo, however, it is challenging to stabilize and technically difficult to handle for mashine-production. After repeated testing, Yumiko Iihoshi has adapted her own original Irabo glaze and developed a selection of tableware that pushes the boundaries of a handmade product. It is very Japanese-like to make the unevenness on the surface as a “highlight”, and we believe that the RelRABO pieces offer shapes and colours suitable for modern living.

The ReIRABO collection offers Cups, Round Plates, Dinner Plates, Oval Plates and Matcha Bowls in the same colour options.  Ideally enjoyed using your own mix and match style. Each shape is carefully designed with consideration to the depth and size that is easy to use on a regular dining situation, and the food shines when served. We hope you enjoy it for Japanese dishes and many other foods.

YUMIKO IIHOSHI PORCELAIN

Tokyo, Japan

* * *

Yumiko’s concept is to create a design that is on the boundary between handmade and conventionally manufactured products.

All products are crafted in Japan.

After graduating from Kyoto Saga University of Arts, studying a Porcelain major, Yumiko started her own porcelain collection under her own name.

She designs and oversees the manufacture of porcelain tableware which combines the use of molds for uniformity, with hand glazing by artisans, to ensure each piece has a sense of individuality.  Each ceramic glaze and shape is unique and original, taking inspiration from the functionality and pure sense of a vessel.

“It is not something that every single claim is too apparent. I thought that it would be nice to have warmth in design, but not argue too much.”

The aesthetic forms and unique palettes are infused with a sense of nostalgia, inspiring us to reflect and reminisce about time while using it in our daily lives.

*The soft and subtle texture of each piece is achieved with a irabo glaze. The faint variations in colour or evenness are due to the hand finishing process and any differences in texture or hue are not considered to be defects.
