Rakuen incense produced by Yamadamatsu offers a sophisticated aroma inspired by the flowers and traditions that colour the beautiful four seasons of Japan; spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Hagitsubo (萩壷) represents Spring. Reminiscent of the modest Japanese bush clovers, it delivers a refreshing and sweet scent of sandalwood and a touch of natural floral notes.
Aroma: sweet, floral and sophisticated
Mood: inviting atmosphere over delicate spring blossoms
Wood: sandalwood
Since the incense coil burns for a long time (about 1.5 hours), it is best used in a spot with good airflow, such as an entryway or large room.

* * *
Yamadamatsu has been a respected family business for over 200 years, manufacturing high quality incense from the same unchanged recipe they originated during Japan’s Edo Period.
Introduced to Japan hand in hand with the sweeping influence of Buddhism, the deep rich fragrances of incense came to be used not only during spiritual rituals but also in everyday life, flourishing as a culture beyond its original religious context.
Only a few time tested Japanese incense producers have managed to offer their own unique sensibility to the products they offer. After hundreds of years perfecting their approach to production, Yamadamatsu is recognized as one of the world’s finest producers of quality incense. With such extensive, first-hand knowledge of the history of Japanese incense, Yamadamatsu possesses a uniquely rich understanding of the culture surrounding it and the importance it can hold in our daily lives, and they are happy to share that knowledge with the world.
Before focusing on their unique blends of incense, Yamadamatsu operated as a medicinal pharmacy, processing and purifying incense woods and materials to be offered for their healthful benefits. Today, Yamadamatsu continues to develop proprietary recipes for traditional incense using some of the finest varieties of aloeswood, kyara, and sandalwood.
