Chopsticks are such simple tools – just consisting of two sticks – but that simple structure exhibits amazing elegance and functionality.
These extremely lightweight Kyoto-style “Moritsuke” = “Serving” chopsticks are made of high quality Japanese bamboo grown in Kyoto. The tips are sharpened to approximately 1mm in diameter to give precision control. Maintained all the way to the tip of the chopstick, surface skin of the bamboo is retained to maximize resilience and durability.
Along with their precise tips, Moritsuke chopsticks include whittled flattened ends, making them ideal for serving, arranging, and decorating food.
“Chopsticks for cooking are made with knowledge and skill in order to cater to professional needs. When in search of better taste, the flavour will change according to what kind of chopsticks you use when cooking.”
- Wash with lukewarm water (use detergent after oil use). Do not leave them in water. Dry well after washing.
- It is better not to use dishwasher or dish dryer.
- For bamboo-made chopsticks, run them down from head to tip. Otherwise, the fibres get bristled up.
- Cedar-made chopsticks should be water-wet for about 10 minutes before use. This will avoid stain, and bring about the subtle aroma.
