Japanese Bamboo Apple Basket
38 x 26 x H19cm
Made in Japan
As the name suggests, this basket is traditionally used by farmers when harvesting apples in the Aomori Prefecture, Japan.
The hexagon pattern is handwoven with Nemagaritake bamboo, a strong type of bamboo that grows stronger in order to withstand the weight of snow in winter.
The bamboo is split lengthwise and then softly knit into the hexagon design, creating a sturdy shape that can withstand the weight of the fruits or vegetables.
Light-weight, durable and easy to hold with the skinny handle. This solid construction makes it the ideal shopping companion, able to carry your produce or canned goods home with ease.
Each basket is handmade by skilled craftsmen, using natural materials. There may be slight variations in colour, texture, or shape as a result, and the basket you receive may not be exactly as pictured. Every piece is one of a kind and it is exactly one of the unique benefits of purchasing a handcrafted item.
